ARCAT, a member of the GAPP, was the winner of the 2006 edition of the TENARIS-SIDERCA National Award for Technological Development

Tenaris and the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion, announce the winner of the contest’s 2006 edition, which awards a prize to the best project of technological development to a SME belonging to the Argentine Industry.

For the second year in a row, an enterprise member of the Argentine Group of Suppliers for the Petroleum Industry – GAPP -, obtained the first prize; this time Arcat won for their project “Extensible Dwelling Module”.

The amount and quality of the projects submitted shows the argentine SMEs’ interest to compete on technological development, and the success of jointing public and private initiatives.

After a very hard analysis process, the jury formed by Mr. Lino Barañao (National Agency of Scientific and Technological Promotion), Mr. Cesar Belinco (Argentine Technological Net) and Mr. Eduardo Dvorkin (Industrial Investigation Center from TENARIS in Argentina), awarded the prize to ARCAT for the above mentioned project. This is an argentine SME with fifteen years of history, dedicated to the project and manufacturing of moving constructions. They have two industrial locations in Avellaneda (Province of Buenos Aires). ARCAT is known because they offers absolutely new constructions solutions, mainly through flexible modules that can be used as living places or warehouses for the petroleum, gas, mining and telecommunications industries; as well as health stations or moving schools, among others.

This time, their awarded project was a dwelling module which, when it is folded, honors the transport ISO regulations and once installed, it gets to a bigger surface three times their own. Obviously this is a very useful idea for the internal market, and it also has an strong exporting potential.

At the same time, TENARIS thanks SOFTLAB (which is part of the GAPP too), because of their interesting presentation of a project about a computerized echo meter equipment.

It’s worth to make clear that the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Promotion, is a national organism under the Education, Science and Technology Ministry of the Nation dedicated to the promotion of activities related to science, technology and production innovation. Through its two funds called FONCYT (Fund for the Scientific and Technologic Investigation), and FONTAR (Argentine Technological Fund), the Agency promotes projects to improve the social, economic and cultural conditions in our country.
